 The Company

Model Military Number Name
1941     Firefly
Fairey Aviation was formed by Richard Fairey in July 1915 to produce the Short 827.

Fairey developed it own aircraft, with several gems among a list of average aircraft known for their awkward appearance.  The company's largest facility was the Great Western Aerodrome at Harmondsworth.

A government forced sell-out to Westland ended Fairey Aviation in 1960.  Fairey's legacy is London Heathrow Airport, built on the site of the Great Western Aerodrome.
